Retrofit assessor
A retrofit assessor carries out retrofit assessments, a role which is mentioned in mentioned in PAS 2035, first published in 2019, and most recently in 2023, PAS 2035 describes the role and task as the process of surveying, inspecting, assessing and recording the relevant characteristics of an existing dwelling ...in order to provide sufficient information for the preparation of a retrofit.
The RICS 'Residential retrofit standard: RICS Professional Standard UK', published in March 2024, is the precursor to the British Standard of the field which is in development; BS 40104 Assessment of dwellings for retrofit. The RICS standard describes a retrofit assessor as 'The appropriately qualified and competent professional with responsibility for carrying out the survey inspection, design and/or other technical assessment of the property chosen for retrofit, e.g. an associate, member or fellow of RICS.'
Figures by the Trustmark from November 24, indicate that some 225k retrofit assessments have already been carried out in the UK, presumably by retrofit assessors, though this is not defined in the statistics and presumably the reason for further standardisation.
